installation :: ( XMLTV Guide Pack )

The following guide will help you setup and configure your system to use our XMLTV: Guide Pack.

The XMLTV: Guide Pack allows a users to (1) download XMLTV data from various guide sources world-wide and (2) import this data into their Windows Media Center device!

If you only need XMLTV data (for MythTV or DVB Web Scheduler for example) then don't worry, you can just install and run only our XMLTV downloader!

The Guide Pack is available for download through our online support forum. Be sure to download the latest Guide Pack version and check for known issues and new features!

after clicking the download link, a window will open asking what you'd like to do with our XMLTV: Guide Pack setup application. You might see a confirmation message asking if you're sure you want to run our software so click the Run button to continue.

Run The "XMLTV: Guide Pack" Setup

When the download has finished, the XMLTV: Guide Pack setup application will appear and guide you through the rest of the installation process.

      

At the completion of the XMLTV: Guide Pack setup, clicking the Finish button. If you've checked the "Launch XMLTV Guide Pack" option box then the XMLTV: Guide Wizard will be launched.

  Run The "XMLTV: Guide Wizard" application

The XMLTV: Guide Wizard will now help you configure your system in only a few simple steps.

If you want to manually configure your system, click the "Close" button in the top right-hand corner and proceed to the Advanced Settings & Features section below.

Step 1 :: ( End User License Agreement )

Please read and accept the EULA by checking the I Accept option box.

If you do not accept the EULA then Click the Cancel button to exit the Guide Wizard.

step 2 :: ( Installation Type )

Select the components that you want configured from the combination below.

  • XMLTV: Download and WMC: Guide Service Proxy, or
  • XMLTV: Download only, or
  • WMC: Guide Service Proxy only.

Step 3 :: ( Installed Components )

The Guide Wizard will now check to see if you have the correct applications installed before continuing.

Step 4 :: ( Download Settings )

The Guide Wizard will now download the latest configuration settings from our servers.

If download attempt fails then check your Internet connection and Firewall settings before trying again.

Step 5 :: ( Guide Region )

Select your guide region and area from the options provided.

If your area is not supported or you want to use your own XMLTV data, then check the My Region Isn't Here! option box.

Step 6 :: ( Available Channels )

A pre-selected list of channels are provided for your area. To add more channels, simply check the Additional Channels list on the right-hand side.

Step 7 :: ( XMLTV Settings )

If you previously checked the My Region Isn't Here! option box, then you will be prompted to enter your own XMLTV data source.

Your XMLTV Data Source can be a local XMLTV file you have previously saved, or a XMLTV file which can be accessed by a HTTP:// URL.

Step 8 :: ( Component Licenses )

The Guide Wizard will check to see if you have registered your applications and have a valid license.

If you do not want to register your components now then uncheck the RegisteR option box. Registering your components is not mandatory, but you'll be missing out on some enhanced features otherwise.

Step 9 :: ( Registration )

Enter your registration details so we can create a license specifically for your computer.

Make sure you enter you email address correctly because this is where we will send your license and confirmations to!

Step 10 :: ( Configure Components ) ?

The Guide Wizard will now begin configuring your system.

Step 11 :: ( Configure Components )

The Guide Wizard will now configure your system. This may take a minute of two depending on your selected settings.

Step 12 :: ( System Test ) ?

The Guide Wizard will now begin testing your system.

Step 13 :: ( System Test )

The Guide Wizard will now test your system. This may take several minutes depending on your selected settings and if your components are registered with a valid license.

Step 14 :: ( Activate Components )

The Guide Wizard will now activate your installed components, ready for use.
